In September 2007 pipelay vessel Audacia left the Keppel Verolme yard for seatrials.
The Panamax bulk carrier was converted into a dynamically positioned facility, capable of operating in ultra-deepwaters of up to 3,000 metres in depth.

Delivery of new engine rooms, thrusters, additional cranes and accommodations were part of Keppel Verolme's workscope.
The vessel received a complete new accommodation block including navigation bridge. In addition, the main deck was closed and a fully covered pipe firing line was constructed and equipped. Operating equipment was installed below deck for the newly fitted series of fixed and retractable thrusters, and a total of three engine rooms were built and equipped to supply the power to all pipe laying and DP units. A huge stinger handling frame was installed on the bow of the vessel and the 112 meter long stinger was fitted.
